We organisers have not been in August

We are unable to advise any factual August ferry costs.

Ferry costs, recorded by the illustrious Dr Hyde (another Dave...)

As by his Email 28th August 2015.

By a happy coincidence I'm on the Isle of Man right now. I came over on the ferry, as a foot passenger. Booked in February, a return journey in August the week before the Grand Prix was £43.

Debit or Credit card

Debit cards have no additional fee. Credit cards have £3/E4 extra transaction charge.

High Car height.

A high car is a car over 1.8m. When you receive a booking confirmation back it will likely give you a default of 2.2m high even though the terms and conditions say up to 3.4m for Manannan and up to 4.0m for Ben-my-Chree. On first trip May 2014 I sent an Email advising them of the measured height and they sent back an amended booking with amended height. It is worth mentioning this to cover yourself due booking system not advise maximum height and not allow a manual height entry during online booking.

On the Manannan high vehicles will exit first as they are in the main, high, vehicle deck. Some vehicles less than 1.8m high are guided into the front upper nose of the Manannan! These will come out last. All vehicles enter and exit at rear of Manannan.

Ferry times

You must carry identification and name passengers

Summary – pack both passport and driving licence if you can!

During our 2014, 2015 and 2016 survey trips we were not actually asked to inspect our Passports or Driving Licences.

The Ferry kiosk would take our booking print out, issue Boarding passes and hand back the booking print out.

A lot closer to the dock the boarding passes would be taken off us.

However the IOM Police has issued a consultation document to start Identity Checks at the ferries as reported by BBC article 35168789 on 24th December 2015.

If ferry Identity Checks happen in Summer 2016 we will advise you on the LBW mailing list as quickly as possible.

Carrying pets, like Dogs

Yes, possible.

See Section 13.

FAQ Can I travel with my pets?

Security

It is possible you may be randomly selected at Liverpool ferry, or Douglas ferry, for a security check.

This happened to David C. in vehicle on 20th May 2015 at Douglas along with a few random other cars.

See Section 14

Questions are generally similar to those you are asked routinely at airports.

Of course you have planned well ahead clearing out your vehicle and all your answers are a calm, polite, no.
